Onsite Construction & Building Services Engineering T Levels

T Level contract update

14 August 2024

Following the , City & Guilds would like to congratulate WJEC on being awarded the T Level contracts for Construction, working alongside EAL to deliver the Building Services Engineering (BSE) T Level. We are committed to working closely with IfATE to honour our commitments under our existing contracts and work collaboratively with the new suppliers to ensure a smooth transition which puts learners and industry needs first.

City & Guilds was proud to be awarded the first-generation contracts to deliver T Levels in Construction: Building Services Engineering (BSE) and Onsite Construction (OSC). We have continued to win several other T Level contracts in Engineering & Manufacturing, Management & Administration, and Agriculture.

Earlier this year, after careful consideration, we chose not to re-tender for these Construction pathways as it allows us to concentrate our efforts on other areas.  City & Guilds are committed to continue working with and within industry to build flexible and adaptive solutions to learning programmes that allow on the job re-skilling and upskilling, alongside more traditional routes.

We are a trusted partner in delivering T Levels and will continue to be one of the biggest providers within the UK, as part of this commitment we continue to input into IfATE and DfE alternative T Level design options to ensure that T Levels can be sustained, grow and scale.  We firmly believe there is an opportunity to ensure the system can deliver more for all and to greater impact. This means looking at the right approach to qualifications reform and T Levels moving forward and being collaborative in addressing the issues that remain stumbling blocks.

We are delighted to have enabled learners to progress through these T Levels and we want to extend our congratulations to all those who have for their hard work.

Our Commitment to the Construction sector

We have a long-standing history and heritage in the Construction and Building Services Engineering sectors and are committed to continuing to develop qualifications, training programmes and skills solutions that equip individuals for success, meeting the needs of the workplace today and in the future.

We cover a wide range of trades and sub-sectors with our apprenticeship standards and EPA, as well as full-time and flexible qualifications for under-19s and adult learners, and CPD courses. The recent launch of our Level 3 Certificate for Retrofit Advisors builds on our green skills and sustainability provision, and we look forward to launching our new level 2 and 3 technical occupational entry qualifications for delivery from September 2025 as part of the reforms to post-16 qualifications in England.
